Pam
If you carry a Delta credit card, there’s a good chance you’re sitting on easy travel money and not using it. I just got a new Delta card, so I wanted to learn more about these credits.
Several Delta-branded cards come with annual Delta Stays credits, a perk that quietly offsets your annual fee when you book prepaid hotels or vacation rentals through Delta Stays. No points juggling. No award-space stress. Just book a stay and get money back.
Here’s why this benefit is underrated. You don’t need a big trip. One night at an airport hotel, a quick weekend getaway, or even a work stay can trigger the credit as long as it’s prepaid through the Delta Stays portal and charged to the right card. The value depends on which card you hold, but even the lower-tier options can wipe out a large chunk of the annual fee with one booking. Higher-end cards can cover multiple nights if you plan it right.
This is one of those benefits that rewards travelers who book intentionally. Before paying cash elsewhere, check Delta Stays first. If you already have the card, you might as well make the credit work for you.
Delta SkyMiles® Gold American Express Card — up to $100 credit
Delta SkyMiles® Platinum American Express Card — up to $150 credit
Delta SkyMiles® Reserve American Express Card — up to $200 credit
Delta SkyMiles® Platinum Business American Express Card — up to $200 credit
Delta SkyMiles® Reserve Business American Express Card — up to $250 credit
I have the Delta SkyMiles® Gold Business American Express Card, so I’m going to look for a cheap pre-departure stay to use this credit. I have an early departure flight from Denver, so I would like to stay near the airport the night before. I go to delta.com/stays and start filling in my information.

There were many hotels to choose from, but I really like the Renaissance in downtown Denver, so I picked it. My $150 Delta Stay credit will cover it.

Note that it says this is eligible for Delta Stays under the payment information.
If I book this hotel, I won’t pay a thing, as I will get a credit. This is one of those credits that I might have missed, and, you know, I am the queen of using my credits! 👸
Travel Points Squad tip: if a card gives you free money for hotels, don’t leave it unused.
