Hotel Review: Párisi Udvar Hotel, Budapest

Pam

Some hotels impress you. Others make you stop in your tracks. Párisi Udvar Hotel Budapest falls firmly into the second category. Right in the center of Budapest, it feels less like a hotel and more like a movie set. We mentioned The Great Gatsby on occasion. When I first walked in after traveling for over 24 hours, wearing my travel clothes, I didn’t feel worthy to be there.

And for Points Talk Squad, this is where things get good. Because while everyone else is gawking at the ceiling, we’re quietly enjoying the fact that our stay didn’t require us to sell a kidney. All we did was plop down a mere 40K Hyatt points a night to luxuriate in a two-bedroom suite.

The value of using Hyatt points can’t be overestimated, and even with the Hyatt changes, I am sure it will still be an incredible value.

Look at how large our room is on the map!

The Décor

Honestly, how do you describe this hotel’s décor when you walk in? I loved the architectural beauty. I’ve been to some beautiful hotels; this may be my favorite. Hyatt describes it like this: The hotel, once a grand luxury shopping arcade and now beautifully restored, is a 19th-century masterpiece that preserves its timeless charm while embracing contemporary sophistication. Yes, I can see that. I can see The Great Gatsby being filmed here.

I felt like I was smack dab in the middle of the most gorgeous, fancy building in the 1920s. You’re under a huge glass dome that lets in light, surrounded by colorful tiles, arches, and shiny details. It almost feels like a mix between a cathedral, a marketplace, and a luxury hall. Honestly, it is hard to describe. I’ll let pictures do it a little justice.

I could look at this lobby and restaurant forever!

Location

The hotel was about a 30-minute Bolt (like Uber) drive from the airport. This cost $35-ish dollars. We couldn’t gauge how the location was when they dropped us off at night, but it turned out to be great. Close to the metro and within walking distance to many places. And the metro was easy to use, too.

The Suite

Two bedrooms with large bathrooms, a beautiful sitting area, and a view of some magnificent Budapest buildings—what’s not to love? And did I mention a grand entry? We were in love and amazed that this was our life. The points from a single welcome offer allowed three of us to enjoy this kind of luxury.

Turndown service was lovely—our slippers were laid out, and we received chocolate, a note, and replenished bottles of water.

View of both rooms from the living area.

One of the two bathrooms had a soaking tub, too.

Globalist Breakfast

The breakfast buffet options were expansive, but we also got to order off the menu. On the first day, we all had eggs Benedict, and the next morning, the waffles were the most delicious. The cost, including tip? $0! And the breakfast setting is second to none, in my opinion.

Bottom Line

If I can manage a stop in Budapest for a couple of nights the next time I go to Europe, I would gladly return to the Párisi Udvar, which is now on my list of one of my favorite hotels. It is special, and the fact that you can stay for so much less than at a Marriott or Hilton makes it a “to-do” on our list.
