Review of the New York Marriott Marquis

Megan K.

If the bright lights of New York City are calling you, the New York Marriott Marquis might be the perfect place for your next Big Apple adventure. This hotel will put you within walking distance to Broadway, museums, delicious food, and more.

Read on to learn how I booked it, what I thought, and if a redemption at this property is worth your hard-earned points.

How I Booked It

In three years in this hobby, I’ve never had any interest in the Marriott Bonvoy program due to their high, dynamic pricing and inconsistent benefits for elites. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t amazing Marriott properties out there that I’d like to visit!

I was excited when Chase Travel℠ launched Points Boost last year, so I could use my Chase Ultimate Rewards® to book non-Hyatt hotels at a good value. Points Boost properties can be booked via the portal for between 1.65 cents per point and 2 cents per point, as of early 2026.

I visit New York every January for a convention held at this hotel. Without any Marriott points or free-night certificates, I typically stay at a nearby hotel (my favorite being the InterContinental New York Times Square) and walk to the site.

Can you guess what type of convention Megan was attending?

But when I saw Points Boost, I knew this would be a great opportunity to stay at the convention hotel without having to brave the January cold on the way back and forth. (I was especially lucky to have this opportunity in 2026 when temperatures reached as low as two degrees during my stay!)

I spent three nights at the hotel, and the cash price would’ve been $1,152 ($138 of that was a resort fee paid in cash). Thanks to Points Boost, I was able to book this in the portal, paying 53,397 Ultimate Rewards® at 1.9 cents per point. Even in the off-peak time of January, fewer than 20,000 points per night in Manhattan is a great deal.

While resort fees are annoying, the Marriott Marquis’s comes with a $40 food-and-beverage credit each day. So you just need to charge $40 of food or drink via room service or at the hotel’s restaurants or bars to “recoup” your fee. Considering how expensive food is in New York City, this is not too difficult to do! We had no trouble using ours each day, essentially making the resort fee “free.”

Other Ways To Book

Of course, if you have Marriott Bonvoy points or free-night certificates, you can also book this way. The property varies in points price—generally between 60,000 and 100,000 Bonvoy points per night.

If you opened the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless® Credit Card when it had the five free-night certificate offer, you could also book this property at an off-peak time by topping up your certificates with up to 15,000 Bonvoy points.

Location

While I generally prefer to avoid the crowds and noise of Times Square, the hotel’s location is convenient. It’s located on 46th Street, right near Times Square and many Broadway theaters. In fact, the property has its very own theater (the Marquis Theater) inside the building! In addition to the Broadway show we attended a few blocks away, we were a quick walk from the Museum of Broadway and Ellen’s Stardust Diner: two must-visit attractions for theater fans!

Check-In

I was caught in winter storm-related travel delays, so I didn’t arrive at the hotel until nearly 9 p.m. The upside was that there was no line to check in! The check-in process was easy and fast, and I was assigned a room on the 25th floor with a nice view of the skyline.

This hotel has quirky elevators that can be confusing for first-time visitors, but they’re generally efficient. If you’re going to your room, simply tap your room key at the kiosk, and the screen tells you which elevator to take. You don’t push any buttons when you get inside the elevator! (Or if you are going to one of the common floors, you just select the floor at the kiosk.)

Room

My cousin met me at the hotel, and we stayed in a Deluxe Double Room. The room was quite spacious, especially by Manhattan standards. We had a desk, a large couch, a refrigerator, a spacious closet, and a fairly standard hotel bathroom. Overall, we were very happy with the room itself.

Restaurants

For the first morning, I went to breakfast at Revel and Rye, a restaurant on the eighth floor. I chose the breakfast buffet. There was a good variety, and the food tasted great. I was a bit disappointed that the hot foods were a bit on the cold side, which is always a risk at a buffet. The second morning, I ordered the French toast entrée, and it was excellent.

If a sit-down breakfast isn’t what you’re looking for, the hotel also has a Starbucks on the ground level. We ordered our coffee there on the app each morning, and it was always ready by the time we arrived. The property also has a store/coffee shop that serves to-go food near Revel and Rye. (Note that your $40 credits will not work in these places—only hotel restaurants/bars and room service.)

Broadway Lounge offers a standard lunch/dinner, while The View offers a (literally) elevated dining experience with beautiful views. While I didn’t have a chance to visit The View, I had a delicious dinner at Broadway Lounge on a very cold evening in the city!

Service and Other Amenities

This property features a large, well-equipped gym on the 23rd floor. The gym had two Peloton bikes—always a nice addition to a hotel stay.

All the staff members we interacted with were friendly and helpful. Housekeeping took great care of our room. The front desk let us check out a bit late, even though I don’t have Marriott status.

Bottom Line

Overall, I was very happy with my stay—and the value for my points—and would definitely stay here again. If you don’t mind the hustle and bustle of Times Square, the New York Marriott Marquis might be the right property for your next city stay, especially if you have lots of Bonvoy points. Have you stayed here? Let us know in the comments what you thought!
