We love our credit cards for the points/miles we earn for free to nearly free travel. We also enjoy all the benefits each card offers us that make the annual fee worth paying year after year. Did you know that some credit cards come with cell phone protection? Let’s go over these as the cost of cell phones is so high that we might as well get a card with protection, right?

There are several cards that have virtually the same cell phone protection plans. They come with $800-$1000 worth of protection in the event your phone is damaged or stolen. You must have paid your phone bill with the credit card for the previous statement that you are trying to make a claim on. If your phone was stolen, most plans want you to have filled out a police report within 48 hours. Here is a great article about things to consider with claims for cell phones.
The interesting thing about the credit cards that offer cell phone protection is that the annual fees on these cards vary from no annual fee (the Freedom Flex) to a $895 annual fee (American Express Platinum Card® rates and fees *enrollment required for some benefits). That means you don’t have to pay a lot to have a credit card that offers cell phone coverage.
Cell phones cost a lot of money and nothing is worse than having one stolen or damaged. Luckily, one of the benefits of some of our favorite credit cards that we use for points and miles also comes with cell phone insurance. Do you have a card with this coverage?
