Hyatt Is Giving Elite Members a Head Start on Award Bookings

Pam

Just when many Hyatt loyalists were feeling disappointed about the 2026 award chart changes, Hyatt slipped in a piece of good news that could be valuable for travelers who like to plan ahead.

Starting June 30, 2026, World of Hyatt will offer exclusive early access to award-night availability for certain members. That means some travelers will be able to book award stays before everyone else.

So who gets this perk?

  • World of Hyatt Explorist members
  • World of Hyatt Globalist members
  • World of Hyatt Lifetime Globalist members
  • World of Hyatt credit card holders

Currently, Hyatt hotels generally open award availability about 12 months in advance. Under the new benefit, eligible members will gain access roughly one month earlier, allowing them to book award stays up to 13 months in advance.

Why Does This Matter?

If you’ve ever tried to book popular properties like the Park Hyatt Kyoto, Park Hyatt Paris-Vendôme, or sought-after beach resorts during peak holiday periods, you know award availability can disappear quickly. Having a one-month head start could make the difference between securing that dream redemption and settling for a backup plan.

This year, I had my heart set on finally staying at the Park Hyatt Paris-Vendôme, but I found no availability. Hotel alerts didn’t help either. Time will tell if this new “head start” will help me!

Park Hyatt Paris-Vendôme remains elusive for me!

This benefit may be especially useful for:

  • Spring Break travel
  • Christmas and New Year’s trips
  • Summer vacations
  • Popular luxury Hyatt properties with limited standard rooms

We know many of our readers were disappointed by Hyatt’s recent category changes. While those increases still sting, this is one update that we feel is good. (Thanks for throwing us a bone, Hyatt!)

Having a better shot at booking those dream Hyatt properties for family vacations, girls’ trips, anniversary getaways, and bucket-list adventures is a win in our book. After all, points are only valuable if you can actually use them for the trips you want.

Will this completely offset the recent Hyatt category increases? Probably not. But for travelers who regularly use Hyatt points, it is a meaningful new benefit. Hyatt remains one of our favorite hotel programs because of the value you can get from award stays, and this change gives elite members and cardholders another reason to stay engaged with the program.

Bottom Line

Our take? If you’re eyeing a bucket-list Hyatt stay, mark June 30 on your calendar. Having access before the general public could give you a significant advantage when those hard-to-find award nights become available. Whether you’re planning next year’s Spring Break, a festive holiday getaway, or that dream international trip you’ve been saving points for, getting first dibs on award space is a perk we’ll gladly take.
