There are hotels that simply give you a place to sleep, and then there are hotels that have the relaxation vibe and make you want to return.  Liostasi Hotel on the Greek island of Ios is definitely the latter. And it is one that I would return to for so many reasons.

Built into the hillside overlooking the brilliant blue Aegean Sea, Liostasi has everything you picture when you dream about Greece. Whitewashed buildings, sparkling water, colorful bougainvillea, and incredible sunsets. We had stayed in an Airbnb in Santorini before arriving at the Liostasi Hotel, and it felt good to be pampered by the staff meeting our needs—and a swimming pool to order food by.

 

 

 

Getting There

We had been in Santorini, so it was a quick 40-minute ferry ride from there to the port in Ios. Transportation to and from the port is included in the room cost.

 

The Redemption

This is where it gets really good. There were three of us, and we booked a loft suite for 48K points per night. We stayed two nights, and I wished we had booked another night or two. From the minute we walked into the hotel, I recognized the Pam vibe.

The Liostasi Hotel is a Mr and Mrs Smith property, and the redemption cost is considerably lower than many I have stayed at. But the accommodations were just as gorgeous! We had three people, so we opted for the suite, but I found king rooms for only 28.5K points per night—insane!

 

 

The Location

One of my favorite things about the hotel is its location. It’s tucked away just enough to feel peaceful and relaxing, but it’s still an easy walk into Ios’s main town, Chora, where you’ll find charming shops, local restaurants, and winding streets that you’ll want to wander for hours. 

The service is what truly sets Liostasi apart. Every person we met genuinely wanted us to have the best stay possible. Whether it was beach recommendations, arranging transportation, or simply greeting us with a smile every time we walked through the lobby, the staff made us feel like very welcome guests. We were greeted with their frozen lemonade, which we ordered again around the pool.

 

 

 

The Room

Our room was beautiful.  Everything felt bright, comfortable, and perfectly designed to show off the incredible views. Waking up each morning, stepping onto the terrace, and seeing nothing but the sea stretching out in front of us never got old.

Upstairs, we had a bedroom with a sitting area and a bathroom; downstairs, a couch that could be made into a bed and its own bedroom. We also had an outdoor patio area with loungers and beautiful sea views.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Breakfast is Included

And then there’s breakfast. If you know me, you know I love a great hotel breakfast, and this one absolutely delivered. Fresh fruit, Greek yogurt, local pastries, made-to-order eggs, and plenty of traditional Greek specialties made it one of those meals we looked forward to every morning.

We also enjoyed dinner at the hotel’s restaurant and by the pool. On our last night, we ordered room service from the bar menu, and that may have been our favorite meal.

 

 

Bottom Line

If you’re planning a trip to the Cyclades and want a hotel that combines luxury, genuine hospitality, and unforgettable views, Liostasi deserves a spot at the top of your list. I found my points stretched much further here than they would have at many comparable hotels elsewhere in Greece, making it an incredible value without sacrificing the luxury experience.

It’s the kind of place you’ll already be thinking about returning to before you’ve even checked out. Just like I did.
