Great Ways to Use Your Capital One Venture Miles to Travel

Stephanie P.

We love our flexible currencies, and Capital One Venture miles are a favorite, so we wanted to share the real ways you can use them for upcoming travel. Capital One has quietly built one of the best transfer partner lineups in the points-and-miles world.

For Capital One products listed on this page, some of the benefits may be provided by Visa® or Mastercard® and may vary by product. See the respective Guide to Benefits for details, as terms and exclusions apply.

Why We Love Capital One Miles

Capital One miles are some of the most valuable points for booking travel. One of the main reasons is that with many of their credit cards, you earn unlimited two miles per dollar spent on all of your purchases—a wonderfully simple way to earn points on everyday spend. No matter what you are purchasing, you will always earn two miles per dollar on every purchase.

Capital One miles are very versatile, which is something I value for family travel. You can spend money on travel on your Capital One credit card and then “erase” the expense with points, you can book directly through the Capital One Travel Portal using points (or cash), or you can transfer your points to a transfer partner. While you can do all three, each has pros and cons. So let’s get into it, and then you can go book the vacation you deserve.

The Capital One Travel Eraser

This is hands-down the most flexible way to use your points because it lets you book travel however and wherever you want, then use your miles to wipe that charge right off your statement like it never happened. No blackout dates, no stressing over availability, just freedom to book the way you want.

Beyond the sheer simplicity, the real beauty of the travel eraser lies in its versatility for those off-the-grid travel moments. Whether you’re staying at a boutique Airbnb in the mountains, snagging a last-minute train ticket across Europe, or finally booking that bucket-list safari, you aren’t restricted to a specific airline or hotel chain.

You simply pay with your card as you normally would, and then decide later if you want to use your rewards to make that expense vanish, giving you ultimate control over your travel budget without the headache of hunting for award space. This option gives you value of about one cent per point. Earning 100,000 points is the equivalent of earning $1,000 in travel. You won’t get the most bang for your buck with this option, but you can use your points freely, and that deserves more hype.

Some Popular Things to Erase

  • Boutique hotels or house rentals you can’t book through transfer partners
  • Cruises
  • Disney World hotels
  • Disney tickets booked through a travel site
  • Safaris

Travel Portal Bookings

Wanting to use your annual $300 travel credit that you get as a benefit with the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card or the Capital One Venture X Business? Using the Capital One Travel Portal is simple. It is built for total versatility, allowing you to pair your points with your $300 credit.

Whether you’re locking in a last-minute flight or snagging that luxury resort you’ve been eyeing, the portal makes the process seamless. It’s all about giving you the flexibility to travel on your own terms while ensuring every mile and every dollar of that credit works harder for you.

Popular Ways to Use Your Annual Travel Credit

  • Rental car
  • Weekend getaway or staycation
  • Inexpensive domestic flight

Transfer Partners and Making Your Points Go Further

Transfer partners are the ultimate secret weapon because they can unlock high-value redemptions. This is the method you want to use to get the most out of your credit card points. Transferring points lets you book luxury experiences like $10,000 business-class suites or flying your whole family to Europe for nearly free.

Some of Our Favorite Capital One Transfer Partners

Air Canada Aeroplan Travel

Aeroplan is the gold standard, and we’ve often used it.  Plus they won’t rob you with fuel surcharges.

  • The Pro Move:  Add a stopover on a one-way award for just 5,000 extra points. Want to see Lisbon for three days before hitting Paris? Done.
  • Real-World Availability (via seats.aero):  We are seeing great availability for Summer 2026 from many major US airports to Europe.
  • Example:
    • Fly Newark to Frankfurt in business class for 60,000 points plus $57 in taxes and fees.
    • Flights Available July through September 2026.

Air France-KLM Flying Blue

Flying Blue uses dynamic pricing, which means there can be a lot of variation in award-ticket prices—but their monthly promo rewards are amazing.

  • The Pro Move: If you are trying to snag business availability, you will want to search as early as possible. Reserving business class to Europe for 45,000 miles or economy for 20,000 points is easy with a little planning.
  • Real-World Availability (via seats.aero): There is great availability from many U.S. cities to Europe most months when you can take advantage of the monthly Flying Blue Promo Rewards—under 20,000 points one way from lots of cities.
  •

British Airways Club

It’s usually a good idea to not use Avios for long-haul British Airways flights (because those high fees will hurt your soul). Instead, for better value, use them for short-distance sweet spots.

  • The Pro Move: Booking Iberia-operated flights through British Airways to Madrid or Barcelona is the Avios sweet spot. Finding availability can be tricky, but with patience, you can find off-peak business class for as low as 40,500 Avios one way.
  • Real-World Availability (via British Airways): Short flights (under 650 miles) on American Airlines can be a great value.
  • Example:
    • Miami to the Bahamas for 13,500 Avios
    • Flights from June to September

Qatar Airways Privilege Club: The Qsuite Quest

If you haven’t flown Qsuites yet, you should. And you can transfer your Capital One Miles to Qatar’s Privilege Club to book it.

  • The Pro Move: Combine your Capital One points with your stash of British Airways Avios by linking your British Airways and Qatar accounts to move Avios freely between them. Qatar often releases more space to its own members.
  • Real-World Availability (via seats.aero): Seats.aero is the best tool for booking these flights. Use the “Qsuite Finder” tool.
  • Example:
    • United States to Doha for only 70,000 Avios.
    • These flights can be challenging to book. Qatar typically releases two seats 361 days out at 3 am Doha time. When I searched, there were four pages of availability. Flexibility is key!

Turkish Airlines

Turkish offers incredible value for reaching Europe through its Star Alliance partnership. Even after their 2025 devaluation, you can still find competitive rates for long-haul travel.

  • The Pro Move: Look for promotional award space on Turkish-operated flights. While partner bookings are an option, booking directly with Turkish Airlines often yields the best availability and the lowest point costs for reaching Istanbul and beyond.
  • Real-World Availability (via seats.aero): There is consistent award space for economy and business class if you book at least six months in advance. We love using seats.aero to filter Turkish Airlines flights.
  • Example:
    • Fly from Orlando or New York (JFK) to Istanbul
      • Economy for 40,000 points one way
      • Business class 65,000 points one way
    • Available throughout 2026, but with more availability from August to December

Virgin Atlantic

Virgin Atlantic miles are your ticket to Europe for almost nothing if you fly economy.

  • The Pro Move: Look for redemptions from 7,500 to 12,000 points to London from major US airports. I had the best luck finding flights from JFK, BOS, and IAD. You will pay about $111 in fees, but you can snag a flight for 7,500 miles.
  • The Real-World Availability: Virgin’s dynamic pricing means you need to hunt, but the “Reward Seat Checker” on their website will be your best friend when booking these flights. Find gems like this: premium economy for 13,500 points or business class for 57,500. Flexibility is always helpful!

  • Example:
    • One-way economy flights from 7,500 to 12,000 points plus fees.
    • Fly from major U.S. cities to London.
    • Many flight options throughout all of 2026.

Final Thoughts

Whether you’re eyeing a luxury Qsuite getaway to Doha or planning to erase the cost of a cruise, Capital One’s versatile miles make your travel both more personal and more affordable. Now that you’ve seen how to turn these points into high-value adventures, how exactly do you plan on spending your miles?
