Hyatt Makes Finding Award Availability Easier

Pam

If you’ve ever tried booking a Hyatt free night using points, you know the pain: clicking through day by day, guessing when award space might open up, juggling multiple hotel pages—it was a tedious process. But Hyatt has finally answered our collective prayers by making finding award availability easier—FINALLY!

With the rollout of its new tool, Hyatt has made it substantially easier to find and book award stays using World of Hyatt points. Whether you’re a seasoned points pro or just getting started with award travel, here’s why this new tool is such a big deal.

Real-Time Award Search

One of the biggest frustrations with the old system was knowing when award nights were actually available. You had to manually search each day for each property, often only to discover there were no rooms bookable with points. Frustrating and time-wasting, right?

Now? The tool gives you real-time visibility into which nights are available for free night redemptions. If a room can be booked with points, you’ll see it right away—no clicking around required. Let’s check it out for a popular destination: Grand Hyatt Kauai.  When I go to the hotel’s website, I can now click on the points calendar. I’m hoping to go in March 2026 and the points calendar now shows me real-time availability, saving me so much time in booking my stay!

Instead of scrolling through dates one at a time, you can now see an entire month’s worth of award availability at once. That means you can:

  • Spot trends in availability

  • Plan around peak or off-peak dates

  • Quickly find open award space for your travel window

This is especially helpful for those of us trying to time redemptions with long weekends or limited PTO. Flexibility is the key to finding award space and this tool will help us see what dates we can book easier.

Comparing Hotels in an Area

I’m planning a trip to Japan, so let’s say I’ll plan to be in Tokyo May 12th through 16th. Let’s see what hotels are available for my stay. If there is a cash price shown there is no award availablity. If there is an award price shown, there is availability. Luckily for me, there was award availaibility on every Hyatt hotel. I’m hoping to stay at the newly renovated Park Hyatt Tokyo, though, and they weren’t allowing bookings when I checked for this example.

But I would consider a suite at the Grand Hyatt Tokyo, too. Let’s see if one is available. I change my search from a room to a standard suite and see that is available for my stay. That is a definite possible use of a Suite Upgrade Award for me.

Bottom Line

Hyatt has always had a strong reputation among points and miles users for offering outsized value on award redemptions. Now they’ve backed that up with a tool that respects our time and helps us make the most of our points. The fact that Hyatt has made finding award availability easier isn’t just nice—it’s essential.
