Planning to Use Both Edit Credits? Read This First!

Pam

The Chase Sapphire Reserve® and Sapphire Reserve for Business℠ each offer two $250 credits for hotel stays booked through The Edit, totaling $500 each calendar year. Each credit requires a separate prepaid stay of at least two nights.

But Chase has quietly added an important restriction to the terms and conditions of this credit: You can’t book two back-to-back stays at the same hotel to use both $250 credits. Stays at the same property within 24 hours of checkout will now be considered one stay, and only the first stay will qualify for The Edit benefits and credit.

So if you were thinking about turning a four-night stay into two separate two-night reservations to trigger both $250 credits, that strategy won’t work. You’ll need to use those two credits on truly separate stays.

Please note that back-to-back stays at the same property within 24 hours of checkout are considered a single stay—only the first stay is eligible for The Edit program benefits. See this link for more details.

It’s a small change, but definitely one to know before planning how you’ll use your $500 in annual Edit credits. My thought is to book them with a paid or points stay in between for a five-night stay in total. Another workaround would be for me to book the first two nights with my credit and my husband or another person to book the second two nights with their credit.

Bottom Line

At first glance, this news sounded horrible. As I reflected further, I think that there are ways to work around this rule. It should also be okay to book two nights with the Chase Sapphire Reserve® and two nights with the Sapphire Reserve for Business℠. Let us know how these options work for you!

Update: They’ve now removed the 24-hour verbiage from the page. Can they make life more confusing for us????
