Bilt Announces Major Changes for 2027: More Flexible Rewards, But Some New Restrictions

Toni Perkins-Southam

Bilt Rewards is making another round of changes, and this time there’s both good and bad news for members.

On October 27, 2026, Bilt announced a slew of updates, including a longer expiration window for Bilt Cash, changes to its credit card benefits, and new opportunities to earn rewards. But there are also some new restrictions, particularly for members who use Bilt Cash toward hotel stays.

Some changes take effect right away, while others won’t start until 2027. Here’s what you need to know.

Bilt Cash Will Now Expire After 12 Months

Let’s start with some good news.

Previously, Bilt Cash expired at the end of each calendar year, with members allowed to roll over only $100 into the following year. Effective October 27, 2026, Bilt Cash will expire at the end of the month, 12 months after it’s earned, with no rollover restrictions.

That means, for example, Bilt Cash earned in February 2026 will now expire February 28, 2027 rather than December 31, 2026.

The change also applies to existing Bilt Cash balances, giving members more time to use the rewards they’ve already earned.

Members will also continue earning $50 in Bilt Cash for every 25,000 Bilt points earned.

Bilt Is Eliminating the 4% Bilt Cash Option for New Cardholders

One of the biggest changes involves how Bilt credit cardholders earn rewards. Currently, cardholders can choose between earning 4% Bilt Cash on eligible everyday purchases, which can be used to unlock points on housing payments, or earning up to 1.25x Bilt points on rent and mortgage payments based on their non-housing spending.

Starting January 1, 2027, new cardholders will no longer have that choice. Instead, they’ll automatically use the housing-only rewards structure, which awards up to 1.25x points on rent or mortgage payments.

However, existing cardholders aren’t completely losing the 4% Bilt Cash option. If your Bilt credit card account was opened before January 1, 2027, you can retain the 4% Bilt Cash earning option by opting out of the refreshed benefits in your card settings before your first account anniversary.

There’s a catch, though. Cardholders who opt out will no longer be able to switch between earning structures after their anniversary.

Changes to Bilt Credit Card Benefits

Bilt is also restructuring annual benefits on two of its credit cards. Under the refreshed benefits:

  • Bilt Palladium Card: The existing $200 annual Bilt Cash credit and up to $400 in annual hotel credits will become a single $600 annual Bilt Cash credit.
  • Bilt Obsidian Card: The existing $100 annual hotel credit will become $100 in annual Bilt Cash.

These credits will be issued on card account anniversaries rather than January 1. This could be a positive change for cardholders who struggle to use their hotel credits, since Bilt Cash offers more redemption options.

Existing cardholders will transition to the refreshed benefits on their first account anniversary in 2027 unless they opt out beforehand by choosing to stay with the 4% Bilt Cash earning structure.

Another improvement: Obsidian and Palladium cardholders who move to the refreshed benefits will be able to use Bilt Cash for Point Accelerator redemptions, even under the housing-only earning structure.

Hotel Redemptions Are Getting More Restrictive

Now for the bad news. Starting January 1, 2027, members will only be able to redeem Bilt Cash toward eligible hotel bookings of at least two nights each twice per calendar year (instead of monthly).

The new limits are:

  • Blue and Silver members: Up to $50 per redemption, or $100 annually
  • Gold and Platinum members: Up to $100 per redemption, or $200 annually
  • Eligible Palladium cardholders: Up to $200 per redemption, or $400 annually

Currently, Blue and Silver members can redeem up to $50 monthly, while Gold and Platinum members can redeem up to $100. So, while Bilt Cash will last longer, members who frequently redeem it for hotel stays will have fewer opportunities to do so.

New Daily Rewards Program Launches in January

Bilt is also introducing a new feature called Daily Rewards on January 15, 2027. Members will be able to unlock rewards through on-time rent or mortgage payments, plus one qualifying daily activity with participating neighborhood partners, such as dining at restaurants or attending fitness classes.

Each Daily Reward will reveal two options and members can choose a prize to claim. Potential rewards include Bilt points, Bilt Cash, and entries toward larger prizes, including:

  • $1 million toward purchasing a home
  • 10 million Bilt points
  • Free rent or mortgage payments for a year
  • Free Lyft rides for a year
  • A dream vacation

Bilt says additional details and official rules will be released closer to launch.

Importantly, Bilt credit cardholders will continue earning points on eligible rent and mortgage payments under their selected earning structure, with Daily Rewards providing an additional opportunity to earn.

More Benefits for Bilt Elite Members

Bilt is also adding new perks for elite-status members in 2027. Gold and Platinum members will be able to redeem Bilt points toward eligible Home Away from Home luxury hotel bookings.

Meanwhile, eligible members will be able to access rental car status matches with Hertz and SIXT.

Platinum members can receive matches to Hertz President’s Circle and SIXT ONE Platinum, while Gold and Silver members can access Hertz Five Star and SIXT ONE Gold.

Bottom Line

Whew. That’s a lot to digest!

Bilt’s latest announcement brings some welcome improvements, especially the extended Bilt Cash expiration window and more flexible annual credits on select credit cards. However, the reduced hotel redemption opportunities and elimination of the 4% Bilt Cash option for new cardholders are less exciting.

For existing cardholders, the biggest takeaway is to review your current earning structure before your 2027 card anniversary. If you want to keep earning 4% Bilt Cash on everyday purchases, you’ll need to opt out of the refreshed benefits before that date.

With more changes coming in January, Bilt is continuing to evolve. Whether these updates are ultimately positive will depend on how you use the program.
