Chase Freedom Flex® Quarterly Bonus Categories

Alex

It is no surprise that we love Chase Ultimate Rewards®! We are always trying to earn more of them to book great Hyatt stays. A favorite credit card that allows us to earn Ultimate Rewards® is the card_name. We love the Freedom Flex because of the quarterly bonus for spending in rotating categories. Maximizing these bonus categories each quarter can earn you up to 30,000 points every year! You can read our review of this card here.

Spending-Category Bonuses

Cardholders can earn 5% cash back (5 Ultimate Rewards® points per dollar spent) on up to $1,500 in combined spending in categories that change every quarter when cardholders activate the bonus. Remember, you must activate the bonus every quarter! Eligible cardholders can activate their next quarterly bonus online or in the Chase app until 12/14/2026.

The Chase Freedom Flex® quarterly bonus categories for spending in the fourth quarter of 2026, starting October 1, 2026, are:

  • Dining
  • Grocery stores (excluding Walmart® and Target®)
  • American Red Cross

You’re Actually Getting 7x on Dining

The dining category is particularly interesting because the Flex already earns 3% cash back (3 Ultimate Rewards® points per dollar spent) on dining year-round.

With it being part of the quarterly 5x bonus categories, the math breaks down as follows:

  • 1x Base Reward: Standard earning on everyday purchases
  • 2x Dining Bonus: Year-round bonus for restaurants
  • 4x Quarterly Bonus: On dining and stacks with the previous two

For a total of 7x!

I reloaded my Starbucks card with $100 and earned 700 points!

How “Cash Back” Becomes Ultimate Rewards®

If you don’t have card_name, card_name, card_name, or card_name, this card is just a cash-back card.  But if you have one of those cards, you can transfer your points from your Chase Freedom Flex® account to one of those cards’ accounts, and voilà, they become Ultimate Rewards®!

Bottom Line

The card_name is one of our favorite cards. The quarterly bonus categories for spending on this card are a great way to help us earn more Ultimate Rewards®.
