If you’ve ever talked to me about points and miles for even five seconds, you already know how much I love American Airlines AAdvantage® miles. So naturally, a new all-time-high welcome offer is going to get my attention.
The Citi® / AAdvantage® Executive World Legend Mastercard® is currently offering 125,000 AAdvantage® miles to new cardholders who spend $15,000 on purchases within the first five months of account opening. It’s the best public offer we’ve seen on the card, but that massive mileage haul comes with an equally eye-catching spending requirement.
For a limited time, new cardholders can earn:
That’s 25,000 more miles than the card’s previous high of 100,000 miles. But there’s a trade-off for this elevated offer. Before, you were only required to spend $10,000 to unlock the welcome offer and now you’ll need to put another $5,000 on the card to earn the new 125,000-mile bonus.
If you can meet the $15,000 spending requirement organically, though, this is a really impressive stash of AAdvantage® miles to earn from a single welcome offer. And 125,000 AAdvantage® miles can go a long way, as you’ll see below.

I mentioned earlier that I love AAdvantage® miles, and for good reason. American dynamically prices its own award flights, so there’s no set number of miles you’ll pay for a particular route. That can be a bad thing, but it can also be a really good thing, too. This can produce some amazingly cheap awards if you’re flexible.
I booked flights for my family from SLC to Paris, France this summer for 19,000 miles and $5.60 per person.
South America can also be a steal if you have flexibility. I’ve snagged flights to Peru for just 13,500 miles, and you can too.

And you don’t have to use all those miles on economy flights, either. AAdvantage® still has some excellent partner redemptions, including business-class awards to Europe, Japan, and the Middle East. Depending on how you redeem them, 125,000 miles could cover several domestic trips or even one or more international business-class awards.

Of course, earning the welcome offer isn’t the only important number. This card carries a hefty $695 annual fee.
The card’s marquee benefit is an Admirals Club® membership, which gives the primary cardholder access to Admirals Club® and partner lounges—and there are over 100 locations worldwide. Cardholders can also bring immediate family members or up to two guests for no charge when visiting an Admirals Club®.
Beyond lounge access, the card offers several other benefits for American Airlines flyers, including a free first checked bag on domestic American Airlines itineraries for the cardholder and up to eight travel companions on the same reservation, preferred boarding, and the ability to earn Loyalty Points toward AAdvantage® elite status.
The card also earns four AAdvantage miles per dollar on eligible American Airlines purchases, plus one mile per dollar on most other purchases.
