There’s something about a beachfront hotel that immediately feels like a vacation, and The Seabird Ocean Resort & Spa in Oceanside, California, delivers exactly that. Located right across from the beach and just steps from the Oceanside Pier, this Destination by Hyatt property combines a laid-back Southern California feel with upscale touches that make a points redemption feel special. I’ve wanted to return to this hotel for a long time, and being able to use my Fine Hotels + Resorts® Credit for this stay was just the excuse I needed.

My sister, stepmom, and I recently went on a four-night trip.  My husband and I have three of The Business Platinum Card® from American Express and one American Express Platinum Card®. I used three credits from The Business Platinum Card® from American Express to book three nights at the Seabird Ocean Resort and Spa, and I used 25,000 Hyatt points to book the fourth night.

 

Using the Fine Hotels + Resorts® Credit 

I expected to get the $125 property credit only once, but the Seabird gave it to me every day I booked through American Express! (YMMV on that.) They covered breakfast for all three of us each morning. We ate two dinners where we ordered a lot of food on two nights and those and most of our tip (all but $10.23) were also covered. We did have to pay for parking, but our credits covered that too. My final bill was a whopping $49.17 on departure.

 

 

So my $487 room for 3 (or four) cost me $187 a night but came with free breakfast for all of us and $375 worth of food/miscellaneous credit. (And I don’t see anywhere that they charged me the $60.86 due at the property each night in the screenshot of my reservation, above.) This was truly a great redemption and one I would happily do again. Great location, cutest decor, and amazing service. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Bottom Line

 I can see using my Fine Hotels + Resorts® Credit here again as this is a fabulous short vacation stop. Sun, beach, great food options, and the cutest hotel. See you soon, Seabird!
