This week’s reader success story to the Grand Cayman Island comes from Christopher, one of the men in the Squad. I particularly love it because it offers the option to replace or extend a visit to Grand Cayman instead of booking the Kimpton Seafire. Here is his story:
This past June, my spouse and I took an unforgettable trip to the Cayman Islands, staying at the beautiful Hotel Indigo. The food was out of this world, and the turquoise waters didn’t disappoint! It felt like a dream vacation, but what made it even sweeter was how little we paid out of pocket, thanks to points and miles.
We booked our stay using IHG points. I’ve been slowly stacking them over time, and IHG runs a half-off points sale twice a year, which was a huge help. I was even able to buy extra points using cash I earned from other travel rewards. This stacking strategy made our stay not only possible but also affordable. The Hotel Indigo was stunning: modern, clean, and close to the water. Every morning, we grabbed breakfast onsite, and in the evenings, we enjoyed fresh seafood and tropical drinks while watching the sunset. There are so many restaurants with breathtaking views on the island.

Our flights were completely covered using points from a Southwest® Credit Card. We had both signed up for the card when they were running a bonus, and those points stretched far. Round-trip flights for both of us? Zero dollars. That left more budget to spend on experiences such as snorkeling, paddleboarding, and a private stingray tour.
Food on Grand Cayman is definitely on the expensive side, so having the hotel and flights paid for made an enormous difference. It lets us focus on enjoying our time, rather than budgeting every meal. If you’ve ever considered diving into points and miles, this trip is proof that it’s absolutely worth it. The memories we made were priceless, and it all started with just a few credit card sign-ups and some intentional planning.
We’ve been using points and miles for a couple of years now. It started as a curiosity but has quickly become our favorite way to travel. It feels so rewarding to take these kinds of trips without the guilt or financial strain. We’re already dreaming up our next trip. This time, we hope to bring the kids. We’re considering staying in an Airbnb and using Capital One Venture Miles to help cover the cost. We can’t wait to go back and bring the whole family next time! Thank you for all the tips!!!
Thanks, Christopher, for sharing your story with us!
