Ever since my stay at the Kimpton Seafire a few years ago, I’ve been wanting to return to the gorgeous beaches of Grand Cayman. And that’s the beauty of points and miles; we can always go back to places we love! This time, we opted to stay at the new Hotel Indigo Grand Cayman, also located in the Seven Mile Beach area. 

In this post, I’ll talk about how I booked it, what I thought, and how you can book it. 

How I Booked It 

One thing I’ve learned after a few years in this hobby—if you’re interested in a new property, book it early. Prices tend to go up over time, especially for high-demand resorts. 

In September 2025, I booked the Hotel Indigo Grand Cayman for 50,000 IHG points per night plus the $75 daily resort fee. With my fourth-night free benefit from holding the card_name, I paid only 150,000 IHG points for a four-night stay, which I booked for Memorial Day weekend 2026. 

Redeem three nights, get the fourth night free when you redeem points for a consecutive four-night IHG® hotel stay. You can receive a fourth Reward Night free, redeemable at that same hotel during that same stay.

My husband/Player 2 and I each hold this card, but we’ve long since spent those welcome offers. Now, we earn IHG points predominantly through stays at IHG hotels (and charging room charges to those cards) and strategically buying points on sale. 

Since we were there, the points cost of the Hotel Indigo has risen to 70,000 IHG points per night, the same as the nearby Kimpton Seafire, so I’m glad I locked our price in early! 

 

Check-In 

My husband and I arrived at the hotel on a busy Saturday afternoon. We were greeted with the customary cold towel and delicious welcome beverage (a refreshing, non-alcoholic ginger drink).

The front desk agent acknowledged my IHG Diamond status and asked us our preferred welcome amenity (breakfast, of course). He apologized for not being able to upgrade us, as the hotel was at capacity due to a huge festival on the island that day, but we were able to get a room on the quiet side of the hotel, away from the noise. Being able to sleep soundly while a loud party was happening nearby was as good as an upgrade to me! 

 

The Room 

Our standard room was excellent—spacious and beautifully decorated in an airy, beachy vibe, similar to the rest of the hotel. The bed was comfortable, and we had plenty of storage space.

 

 

We also found a lovely welcome gift (presumably due to my Diamond status)—a bottle of prosecco, a tray of fruit, a beach bag, and a handwritten note from the concierge. 

 

 

The hotel provides ice machines and cold, filtered water (both still and sparkling!) on each floor, which was just down the hall from our room. 

 

Pool and Beach 

Hotel Indigo has a beautiful, two-level pool surrounded by lush palm trees and greenery. While not explicitly labeled a kids’ pool, the lower level seems ideal for families of small kids, as the water is very shallow. The pool provides towels, chairs, umbrellas, water, sunscreen, and even swim diapers. 

 

 

There’s also a ping pong table and cornhole game area near the pool, which appeared to be a hit with the families during our time there. Near the pool bar there is a lovely hot tub, though we didn’t spend much time there, as it was plenty hot outside! 

The property doesn’t have its own beach, but you can walk across the street to the nearby Bonny Moon Beach Club. They partner with the hotel and provide guests with towels, chairs, umbrellas, water, and sunscreen. (This is a separate facility from the hotel, so I brought a credit card with us for our food and drink purchases. I had read previous reviews that said you can’t charge to your room from there.)  Just like the Seafire, the beach is gorgeous, with crystal clear water. 

 

 

Dining 

The main restaurant in the lobby is Catalina, where breakfast is served in the mornings. The buffet was large and offered a lot of variety. They have a wonderful omelet cook at the buffet who will make you one of the suggested omelets or any type of eggs you like. On our last morning, we decided to mix it up and order the mango French toast entrée; it was fabulous! 

 

 

For our lunches, we typically ordered from the pool bar. My favorite was the crispy chicken sandwich, and my husband enjoyed the sushi. Like the Kimpton Seafire, the Hotel Indigo has flags on the chairs you can raise when you want to order something. I remember this was one of Alex’s favorite things about the Seafire, and I was happy to see it included at Hotel Indigo as well.

We had dinner one night at Pom Pom—the hotel’s rooftop, adults-only restaurant. Our meals were delicious, and the restaurant has gorgeous views of virtually the entire island. There’s also live music, and it’s the perfect place to watch the sunset.

 

 

There’s also a coffee shop outside Catalina and two smaller restaurants that we didn’t try—Milkberry (sushi) and Rasa (an “exhibition kitchen,” whatever that means) 

 

Other Amenities 

I didn’t use it during my stay, but the fitness center is large and well-equipped. The hotel also offered a daily yoga class. I didn’t participate, but the yoga/fitness area outside looked lovely. 

The hotel’s parking is included in your resort fee if you rent a car. Since we mostly stuck close to the resort, we didn’t do this and took a taxi to and from the airport. If you rent a car, just remember that the Cayman Islands is a British territory, which means driving on the left side of the road.

 

Service

Just like the Kimpton Seafire, the staff here is fantastic. Everyone was friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout our stay. 

In addition to daily housekeeping service, the staff came by in the evenings to offer turndown service, which included delicious cookies. (Pam would approve!) 

 

Comparison: Seafire vs. Indigo 

I love that these “sister” properties are so close to each other. It’s a quick walk (or golf cart ride) between the two. We walked over to Ave at Kimpton Seafire one night for dinner, and I went back the next day for a massage, as there is no spa at Hotel Indigo. 

We enjoyed the room, service, and amenities at the Hotel Indigo just as much as the Kimpton Seafire, but you can’t beat the Seafire convenience of being right on the beach. 

If both properties had availability at 70,000 points per night, I’d likely return to the Seafire based on its location. But with availability being tough to find during peak times, if you can find availability at the Hotel Indigo, I think you will still have an amazing stay at a nearly new hotel! You’re still getting the gorgeous beach (even if it’s a few minutes’ walk away), a caring and attentive staff, and delicious meals. 

Both Seafire and Indigo are very family-friendly properties; we saw lots of kids both times. Though I think they’re also great for couples, friends’ trips, or even a solo vacation. 

 

How You Can Book It 

As I mentioned earlier, you can now book this property for 70,000 IHG points per night. I would recommend staying long enough to take advantage of the fourth-night-free benefit if you have a credit card that offers it, as that’s a significant discount.

You could also opt to book this by topping off your 40,000-point IHG free-night certificate with 30,000 IHG points, though you won’t receive the fourth night free using free-night certificates. 

You can often buy IHG points at half a cent per point. So if you bought those points on sale and took advantage of the fourth-night-free benefit, you could essentially buy a four-night stay for a little over $1,000. 

Cash rates were around $500 per night during our stay and can reach $1,000 per night during peak times. 

Another option would be to book this property using your premium card hotel credits. This is a great option for an off-peak stay, when cash rates are lower. 

As of July 2026, the hotel was available both through American Express Travel® (The Hotel Collection) and The Edit by Chase Travel℠.

I searched the property for a weekend in September and found good cash rates for both. You could also take advantage of the elite-like perks, such as free breakfast. 

If you booked through The Edit with your Sapphire Reserve® Card or Sapphire Reserve for Business℠, you could use your $250 credit plus Ultimate Rewards® to stay here for only about 34,000 points for two nights, with the current Points Boost rate of 1.65 cents per point. If you stack this with the one-time $250 credit toward certain hotels (including IHG), you could save even more points. 

 

 

With American Express, you could use your $300 credit with the American Express Platinum Card® or the Business Platinum Card® from American Express to stay here for a little over $500 for two nights. 

 

 

Bottom Line

It’s wonderful to have another great property in Grand Cayman we can book with points! Whether your travels take you to Hotel Indigo or Kimpton Seafire, you can still have a wonderful time in paradise.
