It seems like just yesterday Alaska Airlines was dipping its toes into flights to Europe. And now it’s already adding two more destinations. They grow up so fast!

Beginning in May 2027, Alaska will launch nonstop flights from Seattle (SEA) to Athens (ATH) and Paris (CDG), including what will become the longest flight in Alaska Airlines history.

Here’s what we know about the new routes.

 

Alaska Airlines Is Heading to Athens

Pack your bags for Greece! Alaska Airlines will launch nonstop service between Seattle and Athens on May 12, 2027. The seasonal route will operate three times weekly through October aboard a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, featuring 34 lie-flat business-class suites with closing doors.

And this isn’t just another pin on Alaska’s rapidly growing route map. At roughly 6,200 miles, Seattle to Athens will become the longest flight Alaska Airlines has ever operated. Alaska will also be the only airline offering nonstop service between the West Coast and Athens.

Alaska even had a little fun with the flight number. The new route will operate as AS196, a nod to the first modern Olympic Games held in Athens in 1896.

Alaska Airlines Is Also Adding Paris

Just a couple of weeks after Athens takes off, Alaska will add another major European destination.

Nonstop flights between Seattle and Paris will begin May 25, 2027, and operate five times weekly through October, also aboard a Boeing 787-9.

According to Alaska, Paris is one of the most-searched destinations on its website. The new route will also make Alaska the first Oneworld airline to fly nonstop between the West Coast and Paris.

 

Alaska’s International Network Keeps Growing

Athens and Paris are just the latest pieces of Alaska’s ambitious international expansion.

Alaska only launched its first flight to Europe in April 2026, with nonstop service between Seattle and Rome. But by next summer, the airline’s intercontinental network from Seattle will include Athens, London, Paris, Reykjavik, Rome, Seoul, and Tokyo.

And Alaska still isn’t done expanding its network. The airline is planning to add and ultimately serve at least 12 long-haul international destinations from Seattle by 2030.

Alaska Airlines hasn’t been flying to Europe for long, but it’s certainly making up for lost time. In May 2027, the airline will add nonstop flights from Seattle to both Athens and Paris, bringing even more international destinations into its growing network.

The Athens route is especially exciting, as it will become Alaska’s longest flight ever and the only nonstop option between the West Coast and Athens.
