If you’re looking to take the kids to the most magical place on Earth, you probably know that’s going to be expensive. But your flights and hotels don’t have to be—that’s what our points and miles stashes are for! 

For travelers from the western U.S., Disneyland can be a more convenient choice than Disney World. It’s a shorter flight than Florida, there’s a small airport very close to the park, and some hotels are even within walking distance. 

In this series of “for every points budget” posts, we show you how to get to a specific destination, whether you’re looking to splurge, save, or something in between. You can choose one or mix and match. 

In this post, we’re going to get a family from Seattle to Southern California to go to Disneyland.  So put on those Mickey ears and let’s get to booking!  

 

Low Points Price Flight – Alaska Airlines Economy 

Points-and-miles travelers love Alaska Airlines, and their Atmos Rewards points would certainly come in clutch on this trip. A Seattle-based family could fly to John Wayne Airport in Santa Ana (a short drive from Disneyland) for just 7,500 miles (plus $5.60) per person in economy! 

If the family didn’t have Atmos Rewards, they could also book this same flight through Alaska’s partner, American Airlines, for 12,500 miles (plus $5.60) per person—still a great deal. 

 

 

 

Low Points Price Hotel – Hyatt Regency Orange County 

While Alex’s family loved their stay at the Hyatt House at Anaheim Resort/Convention Center, points availability at that property can be tough to find, especially on weekends. But if you don’t mind staying a bit further from Disneyland, you could use your points or Category 1-4 free-night certificates to stay at the Hyatt Regency Orange County. The Hyatt Regency offers shuttles to and from the parks, and it has an outdoor pool and fire pits. 

Whether this property is low or medium will depend on your dates, as Hyatt has moved toward more dynamic pricing. But for the dates I searched in May 2027, family-sized rooms were available for 15,000 points per night, including for their updated rooms that were about $300 per night in cash. 

 

 

Medium Points Price Flight – Delta Economy 

For a few more miles, the family could also get to Santa Ana via Delta. While Alaska Airlines has more consistent prices, Delta prices can vary. But I found many dates with prices around 15,000 to 20,000 Delta SkyMiles. 

But you can often get an even better deal on this route by booking through Delta’s partner, Virgin Atlantic. We love booking through Virgin Atlantic because they are a transfer partner of all the major programs, and there are often transfer bonuses to this airline, stretching your points even further! 

For example, in mid-May, I found four seats on Delta for 20,000 SkyMiles per person. But Virgin Atlantic offered that same ticket for 11,000 points (plus $5.60) per person.

 

 

Medium Points Price Hotel – Homewood Suites by Hilton Anaheim Resort – Convention Center

If you’d rather stay near Disneyland using your Hilton points, you could stay at the Homewood Suites by Hilton Anaheim Resort – Convention Center for around 60,000 points per night when standard rooms are available. 

You can also use your Hilton free-night certificates here for any standard room. The property has generous standard availability, so that shouldn’t be hard to find. (But given how valuable the uncapped Hilton free-night certificates are, you may opt to save them for a pricier stay at another property.)

The hotel is about a mile from Disneyland, which might be too far to walk depending on your kids’ ages. But it should be a relatively affordable rideshare or taxi ride if you need a ride to the park. (Self-parking is currently $40 per night if you have a car.) 

The rooms here are spacious for a family of four and have full kitchens. The property also offers hot breakfast, a game room, and an outdoor pool.  

 

 

High Points Price Flight – Alaska Airlines First Class

If you have lots of Atmos points and want to splurge, you can also book Alaska’s domestic first class for this flight. I found Alaska first class availability for 32,500 miles per person plus $5.60. I wouldn’t be inclined to spend that many points on such a short flight of less than three hours, but you do have the option. 

 

High Points Price Hotel – Courtyard by Marriott Theme Park Entrance 

If you have Marriott Bonvoy points and want a convenient option for the parks, the Courtyard by Marriott Theme Park Entrance is just a ten-minute walk from Disneyland! Next May, I found ample standard availability for 88,000 Bonvoy points per night for a family of four. 

This property would be a great use of your 85,000-point free-night certificate, since you can now top those off with as much as 25,000 points. 

In addition to being a very short walk to the park, the Courtyard also comes in clutch with its own impressive waterpark where the kids could have fun after a day at Disneyland. It’s also close to a shopping and entertainment district known as Anaheim Gardenwalk, and there are several nearby beaches. 

 

 

 

 

Bottom Line

If your family is looking for a few days of Disney magic, your points and miles can help make this more affordable. Which option are you booking?
