Bank of America is finally getting a points transfer partner—and it’s a good one.
Alaska Airlines announced this week that customers with eligible Bank of America cards will be able to transfer points directly to Atmos Rewards beginning in 2027.
That’s doubly exciting because, unlike American Express, Chase, Citi and Capital One, Bank of America hasn’t traditionally offered a transferable rewards program with airline and hotel partners.
Here’s what we know.
For now, the details are pretty sparse. Alaska confirmed that customers with “eligible Bank of America card products” will be able to transfer points to Atmos Rewards sometime in 2027. However, we don’t yet know exactly which cards will participate, when transfers will launch, or what the transfer ratio will be.
That leaves some big questions. Bank of America currently issues several cards that earn points, including the Bank of America® Travel Rewards credit card. You can redeem those points toward eligible travel and dining purchases rather than transferring to airline loyalty programs.
Whether existing rewards will become transferable or Bank of America has broader changes planned for its card portfolio remains to be seen.
Atmos Rewards isn’t stopping with Bank of America, either. Alaska says it eventually plans to add point-transfer opportunities with other financial institutions around the world. The airline didn’t divulge any potential future partners, but the announcement suggests that the Atmos Rewards loyalty program could become accessible through considerably more transferable currencies sometime down the road.
That would be a pretty rad expansion for a program that already offers access to Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, Oneworld carriers, and more than 30 global airline partners.

Bank of America becoming an Atmos Rewards transfer partner is a significant development for both programs, but there are still plenty of details left to fill in.
We’ll have to wait to learn which Bank of America cards qualify, how points will transfer, and exactly when the partnership will launch in 2027. But for Bank of America cardholders who have historically lacked traditional airline transfer partners, this is one development worth watching.
