Iberia Launches Award Sale With up to 30% Off Avios Redemptions

Toni Perkins-Southam

If you’ve been eyeing a trip to Spain this summer, now could be the time to book. Iberia has launched a new award sale offering discounts of 10% to 30% on Avios redemptions across much of its route network. And to make the deal even sweeter, Citi is running a transfer bonus making these redemptions almost as good as the old Iberia Plus days.

The promotion is valid for bookings made between June 9 and June 15, 2026, for travel through September 15, 2026. Taxes and carrier-imposed fees still apply.

Which Routes Are Discounted?

The only routes receiving the full 30% discount are:

  • Madrid–Buenos Aires (economy)
  • Madrid–Santiago de Chile (economy)

Several routes receive a 20% discount, including:

  • Boston (economy)
  • Dallas (economy)
  • Washington, D.C. (economy)
  • Toronto (economy and business)
  • Monterrey (economy and business)
  • Chicago (business)

Iberia is also discounting a number of European destinations by 20% in both economy and business class, including Athens, Dubrovnik, Split, Tirana and Zagreb.

Meanwhile, select routes to destinations such as Miami, Guatemala City, Panama City, San Salvador, San Juan, Bogota and Sao Paulo are receiving a 10% discount in various cabins.

Search Even if Your Route Isn’t Listed

Interestingly, the discounts available on Iberia’s website don’t seem to perfectly match the routes outlined in the promotion’s terms and conditions.

While searching award space, we found discounted business-class pricing from Chicago, which isn’t mentioned in Iberia’s list of discounted destinations. So you’ll likely want to search for your preferred routes even if they don’t appear on Iberia’s official list.

Stack the Savings With a Citi Transfer Bonus

Citi cardholders can to stretch their points even further. Through June 21, Citi is offering a 30% transfer bonus to Qatar Airways Privilege Club. Since Avios can be moved between Avios-earning loyalty accounts, the discounted Chicago–Madrid award shown above would require just 32,000 Citi ThankYou® Points after accounting for the transfer bonus.

Is This Sale Worth It?

Iberia’s latest award sale offers discounts of up to 30% on select Avios redemptions booked through June 15, 2026, for travel through September 15. While the biggest discounts are concentrated on a handful of routes, travelers may find additional savings that aren’t clearly reflected in the promotion’s published terms.

Iberia Avios can already provide strong value for flights between North America and Spain, and discounts of 20% to 30% can shave thousands of Avios off the cost of an award. Combined with the current Citi ThankYou® transfer bonus, some travelers may be able to book flights for significantly fewer points than usual. If you’re considering a trip to Europe or Latin America this summer, it’s worth running a few searches before the sale ends.
